November 4, 2024 — Mumbai police have detained a 24-year-old woman from Ulhasnagar, Thane after she allegedly sent a death threat against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The message warned that if Adityanath did not resign within 10 days, he would meet a fate similar to that of NCP leader Baba Siddique, who was killed last month in Mumbai.
The message was sent on Saturday night to the Mumbai Police Traffic Control’s WhatsApp number. Following the threat, authorities quickly traced the source using mobile location data, leading them to the woman, Fatima Khan. Police said Khan holds a BSc in Information Technology and lives with her family in Ulhasnagar, where her father runs a timber business.
The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and the Worli police conducted a joint operation to detain her. Officials reported that she appeared mentally unstable, though her medical history is still under review. For now, she remains under police supervision while investigations continue. Police are treating the incident as a serious threat, particularly with Adityanath’s visit to Maharashtra scheduled for November 20 to campaign for the state assembly elections.
Since the arrest of a 24-year-old woman from Ulhasnagar for issuing a death threat to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, security around the CM has been significantly heightened. The threat, which warned Adityanath to resign within 10 days or face a fate similar to slain NCP leader Baba Siddique, has raised serious concerns. In response, Maharashtra’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Uttar Pradesh’s Special Task Force (STF) have joined forces to assess potential risks and ensure the CM’s safety. The collaboration aims to investigate the motive behind the threat and prevent any escalation of security challenges.
