Following their defeat in Maharashtra’s assembly elections, Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray Sena (UBT) has raised serious allegations of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) tampering, demanding the results be annulled. Party spokesperson Sanjay Raut claimed that the Sena was leading in early paper ballots, but the tide turned dramatically after EVM counting. The party has filed 450 complaints, citing discrepancies between initial and final results. Raut sarcastically suggested that the BJP rigged the results and called for fresh elections using paper ballots.
Sharad Pawar has raised concerns over the recent election results, highlighting an unusual pattern where victories in larger states followed losses in smaller ones. His remarks have added fuel to the growing debate over electoral transparency and fairness. Pawar’s observations align with the opposition’s broader narrative, which questions the integrity of the process amid such discrepancies.
Despite these claims, the Election Commission has firmly defended its stance, maintaining that the elections were conducted fairly and in adherence to established protocols. The Commission emphasized its commitment to upholding democratic principles and ensuring impartiality throughout the electoral process.
However, as tensions escalate, the Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) faction’s demand for greater transparency in the electoral process continues to challenge the legitimacy of the results. The opposition’s persistent calls for clarity and accountability have sparked renewed public discourse, placing the spotlight on the role of institutions in safeguarding democracy.
