CBI Details Sequence of Events in RG Kar Case Involving Sanjay Roy.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet in the RG Kar rape-murder case, detailing the sequence of events surrounding the crime involving the main accused Sanjay Roy. The incident occurred on August 9, when the victim, a trainee doctor, was found dead in a seminar room at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

According to the chargesheet, the CBI analyzed CCTV footage from the hospital and surrounding areas, confirming Roy’s presence at the scene. The footage shows:

  • 3:42 AM: Roy entered the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
  • 3:48 AM: He was seen on the ramp of the emergency ward.
  • 4:03 AM: Roy was on the third-floor corridor near the crime scene.
  • 4:32 AM: He exited the chest ward on the third floor.
  • 4:37 AM: Roy left the hospital premises on his motorcycle.

The victim was last seen by a colleague around 3 AM, and the postmortem report indicated her time of death occurred after 4 AM. The CBI’s investigation found multiple injuries on both the victim and Roy, suggesting violence during the incident.

In addition to Roy, the CBI has arrested two other individuals linked to the case, including Abhijit Mondal, the officer in charge of Tala police station, and former RG Kar principal Sandip Ghosh. The investigation continues as the CBI examines phone records to uncover any potential conspiracy involving other suspects.

The chargesheet does not indicate that gang rape occurred, specifying that Roy acted alone. The CBI has conducted detailed interrogations and polygraph tests, though Roy declined consent for a narco-analysis test.

The investigation remains ongoing, with the CBI collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses to build a comprehensive case against the accused.
