4.2 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Maharashtra’s Amravati, No Damage Reported

A mild earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale jolted Maharashtra’s Amravati district at 1:37 PM on Monday, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). Tremors were felt in several areas, including Chikaldhara, Katkumbh, and Melghat. However, no casualties or property damage were reported.

Local authorities, including Amravati’s Resident Deputy Collector Anil Bhatkar, confirmed the tremors in regions like Paratwada city and parts of Dharni and Akot talukas but emphasized that the situation remains under control, with no major impact observed.

The earthquake has raised concerns about the region’s preparedness for future seismic activity, as mild quakes have been recorded in other parts of Maharashtra in recent times.
