Bengaluru Chaos: Woman Kicks, Abuses Traffic Cop, Tries Snatching His Body Camera; Law Struggles Amid Rising Public Hostility

Bengaluru – In a shocking display of public misconduct, a woman was captured on video physically and verbally assaulting an on-duty traffic cop in Indiranagar on Friday, sparking outrage over rising disrespect towards law enforcement. Identified as Sonam, the woman reportedly kicked the officer, hurled abuses, and attempted to snatch his body camera, demanding that all officers present lose their jobs. The viral video shows Sonam in an aggressive stance, with onlookers and fellow officers standing by in shock.

This incident unfolds as part of a concerning trend where law enforcement officers are increasingly subjected to hostility and disrespect, often without recourse. “Cases like this reflect the law itself as a victim,” commented a senior official. “The officers who are tasked with maintaining order end up facing aggression from those they aim to protect.”

Following the incident, an FIR was registered against the woman at Indiranagar Police Station. Some reports suggest potential mental health concerns, though authorities are still investigating the matter thoroughly.

This is one of several recent cases spotlighting public hostility toward law enforcement. In a separate incident, a Bengaluru traffic cop was dragged on a car bonnet near Sahyadri College after attempting a routine stop. The driver, Mithun Jagadale, was later identified and arrested after video footage went viral, highlighting the increasing physical risks officers face.

As law enforcement bears the brunt of public misbehaviour, officials are calling for urgent protection and clear repercussions for assaults on police personnel. While the legal system is designed to protect society, incidents like these underscore the importance of also protecting those who uphold it.
