Palamu, Jharkhand: BJP National President JP Nadda announced a decisive stand on tribal rights at an election rally in Jharkhand, promising that if the BJP is elected, it will prevent children of Bangladeshi infiltrators from claiming tribal status. Addressing supporters in Palamu district, Nadda emphasized that the BJP is committed to upholding the rights of local communities and safeguarding tribal land from alleged intruders.
Nadda accused the Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) government of allowing “infiltrators” to settle in the state and allegedly seize tribal resources. He declared that every Bangladeshi citizen residing in Jharkhand without legal status would be expelled, specifically targeting situations where “infiltrators” marry local tribal women, thereby aiming to secure access to tribal land. “These children will not be given any tribal rights,” Nadda asserted.
The BJP leader’s remarks underscore the party’s promise of a “double-engine” government, a reference to aligning state and central governments under BJP leadership for “all-round development.” Nadda urged Jharkhand voters to transition away from the current “single-engine” administration led by JMM, arguing that only a BJP government could tackle issues such as illegal immigration and corruption effectively.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also joined the campaign, accusing the JMM of creating a “red carpet” for infiltrators in Jharkhand. Shah promised voters that a BJP-led government would swiftly deport unauthorized residents and assured that the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC) would not infringe on tribal rights, countering opposition claims to the contrary.
The upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections are set to be held in two phases, on November 13 and November 20, with vote counting scheduled for November 23.
