CCTV Footage Reveals Two Terrorists Entering Workers’ Camp Before Deadly Attack in J&K

Srinagar: In a chilling turn of events, the Jammu and Kashmir Police released photographs of two foreign terrorists caught on CCTV footage entering a workers’ camp in the Ganderbal district, just before unleashing a brutal attack that left seven people dead. The attack, which occurred on Sunday evening, claimed the lives of six non-local workers and a local doctor and injured four others.

The CCTV cameras installed inside the camp in the Gagangir area captured the terrorists moments before they fired indiscriminately at the workers, who were employed by APCO Infrastructure. This company is responsible for constructing a tunnel from Z-Morh to the Sonamarg tourist resort, a project aimed at making the Srinagar-Sonamarg road functional year-round, boosting the local economy.

Investigations are already underway, with more than 40 individuals questioned in connection with the attack. A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) visited the site to gather crucial evidence. The police continue to search for the assailants, warning locals to remain vigilant.

The attack has sent shockwaves across India, drawing widespread condemnation. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Roads and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, and several political figures, including Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, and Ghulam Nabi Azad, expressed their outrage. In response, the Lt Governor has sanctioned ex gratia relief for the victims’ families, while APCO Infrastructure has released ₹25 lakh as immediate assistance.

This horrific attack highlights the persistent threat of terrorism in the region, as authorities ramp up security at key infrastructure projects to prevent further incidents. The brutal assault serves as a stark reminder of the challenges Jammu and Kashmir continues to face, even as efforts are made to improve local livelihoods and boost tourism through critical infrastructure development.

In the wake of the tragedy, the people of Ganderbal and the broader region are left grappling with the aftermath, as the search for justice and accountability intensifies.
