Jerusalem, Oct 19, 2024 – In a tense escalation, a drone was launched towards the home of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the coastal town of Caesarea on Saturday. According to Netanyahu’s spokesman, the prime minister was not in the vicinity during the incident, and no casualties were reported.
The Israeli military confirmed that the drone, which originated from Lebanon, struck a building, though it remains unclear which structure was hit. In addition to this, two more drones attempting to enter Israeli airspace were intercepted by the military before they could reach their targets.
The drone attack comes amid heightened tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant group backed by Iran. While Hezbollah has not claimed responsibility for the incident, the group has been engaged in a series of clashes with Israeli forces since last October, sparking fears of further escalation.
Explosions were heard in Caesarea, where Netanyahu maintains a holiday home, but police and ambulance services reported no injuries.
This incident adds to the growing conflict between Israel and militant groups in Lebanon, with the drone attack marking a direct attempt to target the Israeli leadership. Authorities are investigating the incident as Israel remains on high alert.
Stay tuned for updates as the situation unfolds.
