NYC COVID Advisor Fired After Revelations of Secret Drug-Fuelled Parties During Lockdowns

Dr. Jay Varma, former Senior Public Health Advisor to New York City under Mayor Bill de Blasio, has been terminated from his position at SIGA Technologies following the exposure of his participation in underground drug-fuelled sex parties during the height of the COVID-19 lockdowns. While citizens were under strict restrictions, unable to attend funerals or visit loved ones, Varma reportedly attended raves and hosted private gatherings in violation of pandemic guidelines.

The scandal came to light after podcaster Steven Crowder released secretly recorded conversations in which Dr. Varma admitted to sneaking around and attending raves while managing the city’s COVID response. In one clip, Varma confessed to hosting a party in August 2020 where attendees used MDMA. “This was not COVID-friendly,” Varma admitted, describing the event as a way to “blow off steam” amidst his pandemic duties.

Varma’s admissions have sparked widespread outrage, with many criticizing the hypocrisy of his actions during a time when strict health mandates were imposed on the public. SIGA Technologies confirmed Varma’s immediate termination, stating his behavior was inconsistent with his leadership role.

Despite the uproar, Varma later defended himself, claiming his statements were taken out of context and acknowledging that he had made poor decisions during the pandemic. Nonetheless, the revelations have led to a significant backlash, with calls for accountability for public figures who violated the very policies they enforced.
