Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024: Voter Turnout and Key Highlights

The Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024 is underway, with polling across 288 constituencies beginning at 7 AM and scheduled to continue until 6 PM today. As of 11 AM, the overall voter turnout was 18.14%. Mumbai city reported a turnout of 15.78%, reflecting a slow urban response, while Gadchiroli led with an impressive 30% turnout. Nanded registered the lowest participation at 13.67%.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, and opposition leaders like Uddhav and Aaditya Thackeray cast their votes early in the day, urging citizens to participate actively. Maharashtra BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule highlighted the significance of voter involvement, predicting a decisive mandate.

The election pits the ruling Mahayuti alliance, led by the BJP and Shinde’s Shiv Sena faction, against the Maha Vikas Aghadi, which consists of Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena, the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and the Congress.

Results will be declared on November 23, with political parties keenly awaiting the verdict shaping Maharashtra’s governance for the next five years.
