Tensions Surge as Militants Open Fire on Army Vehicle in Jammu and Kashmir, Villages Cordoned Off for Search Ops

Jammu, J&K: In a serious escalation, militants opened fire on an Army ambulance early Monday morning in Jammu’s Khour sector, triggering an immediate security response. Army and Jammu & Kashmir Police have cordoned off the surrounding villages and initiated a joint search operation to locate the attackers.

The attack occurred in Jogwan, with initial reports suggesting that two or three militants crossed the Manawar Tawi from the Pakistani side into Khour’s Battal area. Shots were fired at the military vehicle, though no injuries have been reported yet. Sources confirmed the presence of the militants near Assan Mandir, where additional security forces have been deployed to assist in the search.

This incident follows a series of recent militant attacks in Jammu and Kashmir. Last week, two soldiers and two civilian porters lost their lives in a terror assault near Gulmarg, while a separate attack in Ganderbal claimed seven civilian lives. Security forces remain on high alert, with operations intensified across the region to thwart further violence.

The Khour assault underscores the ongoing challenges in safeguarding the Line of Control and border regions. Security officials maintain vigilance as reinforcements and tracking operations continue in the area.
