Murlidhar Mohol Denies Speculations About Becoming Maharashtra’s Next CM

Amid growing speculation on social media about Murlidhar Mohol potentially succeeding Devendra Fadnavis as Maharashtra’s Chief Minister, the Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation has categorically dismissed these rumors. Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Mohol termed the claims “baseless and fabricated.”

Mohol’s Clarification
Mohol reaffirmed that the BJP contested the Maharashtra Assembly elections under the leadership of Devendra Fadnavis and highlighted the historic mandate secured by the Mahayuti alliance.

“In the BJP, decisions are taken unanimously by the parliamentary board, not through social media speculations. The party’s decision is supreme,” Mohol wrote.

Mahavijay for Mahayuti
The Mahayuti alliance, consisting of the BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction), and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction), emerged victorious in the elections, winning 230 of 288 seats. The BJP secured 132 seats, Shiv Sena won 57, and the NCP claimed 41.

Speculations About Leadership
Despite the alliance’s landslide win, the question of who will assume the CM post remains unresolved. Reports suggest Eknath Shinde is dissatisfied with the BJP’s reluctance to retain him as the Chief Minister. Alternative names such as Vinod Tawde and Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil have also surfaced as potential contenders.

MVA Faces Defeat
In contrast, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) faced significant setbacks, with Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT) winning 20 seats, Congress 16, and the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) managing only 10.

Uncertainty Continues
Seven days after the vote count, the Mahayuti alliance is yet to finalize its chief ministerial candidate, keeping political circles abuzz with speculation.
