PM Modi’s Pune Visit Cancelled Amid Heavy Rains.

Pune: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Pune on Thursday, aimed at inaugurating a new metro corridor and launching several developmental projects, has been cancelled due to ongoing heavy rains in the region.

Sources from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) stated that the decision was taken in light of weather forecasts predicting continued heavy rainfall in Pune. The city has been grappling with relentless rain since Wednesday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) recording over 130 mm of rainfall. Further downpours are expected over the next few days.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar had made arrangements for PM Modi’s visit at the SP College ground. However, due to the adverse weather conditions, the visit was called off. Authorities have also announced the closure of schools and colleges across Pune on Thursday as a precautionary measure.

Pune, along with other parts of Maharashtra like Mumbai, has been severely affected by the heavy rains, disrupting normal life and causing waterlogging in several areas.
