Ratan Tata, former chairman of Tata Sons and a renowned philanthropist, passed away on October 9, 2024, at 86. He died at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital after being in critical condition. His body will be kept for public viewing until 3:30 PM today before his last rites are performed with full state honors.

Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran expressed deep sorrow, saying, “Mr Ratan Tata’s immeasurable contributions have shaped both the Tata Group and the nation.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi described Tata as “a visionary business leader, a compassionate soul, and an extraordinary human being.”
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde confirmed that Home Minister Amit Shah would attend the last rites on behalf of the Government of India. Several politicians, business leaders, and citizens expressed grief and condolences.
