Jammu & Kashmir: Security forces successfully eliminated three terrorists who attacked an Army vehicle in Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor sector near the Line of Control (LoC). The intense operation, stretching across 27 hours, concluded early Tuesday morning.
The encounter began Monday when terrorists targeted an ambulance accompanying an Army convoy. The first terrorist was neutralized by evening, while two others were killed on Tuesday near the Assan temple in Jogwan village after a fresh assault initiated by security forces around 7 a.m. The operation involved extensive efforts from Army units, special forces, and National Security Guard (NSG) commandos, with aerial assistance from helicopters and drones.
During the mission, the Army deployed BMP-II infantry combat vehicles for added firepower. In a tragic turn, Phantom, a four-year-old Belgian Malinois service dog, was killed while bravely drawing enemy fire. Phantom’s efforts aided the operation significantly, with officials lauding the dog’s sacrifice, describing him as a “true hero.”
This incident marks another operation in the region underscoring the ongoing security challenges and the high-stakes response efforts by India’s armed forces.
