Tragic Incident in Malad: Man Electrocuted and Falls into 25-Foot Drain, Another Injured in Chembur Fire.

In a tragic accident on Wednesday night, a 39-year-old man, identified as Kamlesh Chandrakant Shitab, lost his life after an electric shock caused him to fall into an open 25-foot-deep drain in Malad East, Mumbai. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. near Parekh Nagar Garden on Triveni Nagar Road, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Emergency response teams quickly arrived at the scene, retrieving Shitab from the drain and transporting him to the Shatabdi Hospital, a civic-run facility. However, despite rescue efforts, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Authorities have yet to disclose further details regarding how the electrocution occurred, though investigations are underway to prevent similar accidents in the future.

In a separate incident later that night, a fire broke out at 10:47 p.m. in a building in Central Mumbai’s MHADA Colony, Chembur. The blaze, originating in the kitchen of a seven-story building, left 60-year-old Nafir Sayyad with burn injuries covering 30% of his body, affecting his hands, face, and neck. Firefighters contained the fire, limiting it to the ground floor, and Sayyad was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Both incidents have highlighted concerns over public safety, particularly in high-density urban areas with vulnerable infrastructure.
