Explosion Near PVR in Delhi’s Prashant Vihar Raises Concerns of Security and Safety

A powerful explosion was reported near a PVR in Delhi’s Prashant Vihar on Thursday morning, just over a month after a similar incident shook the area. According to reports, the blast occurred near the boundary wall of a local park, causing significant damage to nearby structures, including shattered window panes and damaged vehicles. The call about the explosion was received at 11:48 AM, prompting an immediate response from the Delhi Fire Service, the Delhi Police Crime Branch, the Special Cell, and the Bomb Disposal Squad.

Security agencies are investigating the cause of the explosion, which initial reports suggest could have been triggered by industrial waste ignited by a burning cigarette butt. This theory has been supported by forensic experts at the scene, who found traces of industrial debris and other materials at the blast site. However, other reports, including a Reuters investigation, suggest the blast could have been caused by a crude bomb.

The area has been cordoned off, and a high alert has been issued across the city following the incident. In addition to local police, teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), National Security Guard (NSG), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and forensic experts were deployed to gather evidence and assess the situation.

This explosion follows a previous blast at the CRPF school in Prashant Vihar last month, further heightening concerns about security and safety in the area. Investigators are now looking at video footage from local CCTV cameras to piece together the events leading up to the explosion and assess whether there are any connections between this incident and past security breaches in the area.
