Historic Move: Centre Approves First-Ever Women Battalion for CISF

In a milestone for gender equality in national security, the Ministry of Home Affairs has sanctioned the formation of the first all-women battalion in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Announced today, this all-women unit is set to play a versatile role in VIP security, airport protection, and the Delhi Metro, underscoring an expanded mission for female representation in the force.

CISF Deputy Inspector General Deepak Verma confirmed that recruitment, specialized training, and headquarters planning are underway for this elite battalion. Aimed at empowering women and fostering national service, this battalion responds to the Union Home Minister’s directive issued during the 53rd CISF Day celebrations.

With women currently making up over seven percent of CISF personnel, this development will inspire many young women to pursue careers in security, offering new opportunities for leadership and service in the force.
