In a shocking case of road rage in Malad, Mumbai, a 28-year-old biker, Akash Maeen, was tragically beaten to death following an altercation with an auto-rickshaw driver, Avinash Kadam, and his associates. The incident, which occurred on Daftary Road near Pushpa Park on November 9, unfolded after Kadam made a sharp cut to overtake Maeen’s bike. When Maeen confronted Kadam, the situation quickly escalated, leading to a fatal brawl.
The confrontation reportedly intensified when Maeen struck Kadam with an object, prompting Kadam’s friends to join in and attack Maeen. A disturbing video of the assault surfaced, showing Maeen lying on the ground while his mother, Deepali, attempted to shield him by holding him tightly. His father, Dattatry, also tried to intervene but was reportedly attacked as well.
In a tragic twist, Maeen’s wife, who was riding pillion, and his parents, who were in a separate auto-rickshaw, were en route to celebrate Dussehra with family in Malad East. The altercation cut short their journey, and Maeen was rushed to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Police have arrested Kadam and eight others on charges of murder under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and investigations are ongoing to trace additional suspects involved. This tragic event has raised concerns about safety on Mumbai’s roads and the dangers of escalating tempers among motorists.
