Begusarai, Bihar, October 21, 2024: A dramatic robbery attempt in a jewellery store in Bihar’s Begusarai district resulted in a gunfight between the store owner and a group of armed robbers. The incident, captured on CCTV, took place at Patel Chowk in broad daylight and has since gone viral on social media.

The robbery unfolded when several armed men entered the store, prompting alarm among customers. One of the robbers, holding a pistol, leapt across the store’s counter and began taking jewellery. Store owner Pramod Poddar, acting in self-defense, opened fire, resulting in a gunfight. During the exchange, one of the store’s employees, Ajay, and two of the robbers sustained injuries.
The injured robbers were later arrested and taken for medical treatment, according to the police. The thieves managed to steal jewellery worth approximately ₹40 lakh before the police arrived at the scene. Mr. Poddar expressed frustration, stating that he had alerted local authorities to increase security ahead of Dhanteras, but no action was taken until after the incident.
Police are now investigating the robbery and taking steps to prevent further incidents as the festive season approaches.
