Kerala Driver Fined ₹2.5 Lakh, Licence Revoked for Blocking Ambulance.

A car driver in Thrissur, Kerala, faced severe backlash after obstructing an ambulance, ignoring its siren and repeated honks on a two-lane road. Dashcam footage of the incident, showing the vehicle deliberately blocking the ambulance’s path, went viral, sparking public outrage.

The Kerala police fined the driver ₹2.5 lakh for violations, including failure to give way to an emergency vehicle and lack of a valid Pollution Under Control Certificate. His license was also revoked.

Under Section 194E of the Motor Vehicles Act, such offenses can result in imprisonment, fines, or both. Social media users have urged stricter laws to address similar incidents, labeling the act as inhumane and calling for non-bailable penalties.

The incident reignites debates on road safety and awareness about prioritizing emergency vehicles.
