Man Fired and Case Filed After Acid Attack Threat Over Woman’s Clothes in Bengaluru

A disturbing incident in Bengaluru has led to swift action after a man, Nikith Shetty, threatened to throw acid on a woman due to his disapproval of her clothing choices. The threat, shared by the victim’s husband on social media, has sparked outrage and prompted both legal action and job termination for the accused.

The husband, Shahbaz Ansar, a journalist, posted on X (formerly Twitter) tagging Karnataka authorities, stating:
“This person is threatening to throw acid on my wife’s face for her choice of clothes. Please take immediate action against this person to prevent any incident from happening.”

Social media users were quick to respond, identifying Nikith Shetty and his workplace, Etios Digital Services. The company wasted no time in addressing the situation. In an Instagram statement, Etios Digital Services announced that Shetty’s employment had been terminated, and a case had been filed against him.

Company’s Response:
“As a company committed to fostering a safe and respectful environment, we have taken immediate action. Nikith’s employment has been terminated for five years, and we have filed a case against him to ensure accountability for his actions.”

This decisive action has been widely praised online, with many thanking the company for standing against such toxic behaviour. Shahbaz Ansar also expressed his gratitude for the support received:
“The man who threatened my wife with an acid attack has lost his job. The company acted promptly, and I thank everyone who made this happen.”

Legal Action: The case against Shetty will proceed under Section 124 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which imposes strict penalties for acid attacks, including life imprisonment and fines to cover the victim’s medical expenses.

The incident serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers posed by toxic mindsets, especially those related to gender and personal freedom. The swift response by the public and authorities shows that online vigilance and collective action can make a difference in combating such threats
