Noel Tata Unanimously Elected as Chairman of Tata Trusts, Succeeding Ratan Tata

Noel Tata, the stepbrother of the late Ratan Tata, has been unanimously elected as the new chairman of Tata Trusts. This leadership transition follows the passing of Ratan Tata, the former chairman emeritus of the Tata Group, who died on October 9, 2024, at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. His last rites were conducted with full state honours on October 10.

Noel Tata, who has been actively involved in the Tata conglomerate, brings with him 40 years of business experience. He has played a pivotal role in overseeing the company’s fashion and lifestyle brand, Trent, which has grown to become the fourth-largest company within the Tata Group. Trent manages several popular brands, including Westside, Zudio, and Star, and also operates the Spanish fashion retailer Zara in India.

As a member of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, Noel Tata has contributed to the philanthropic and strategic direction of the group for years. His appointment marks a significant leadership change as Tata Trusts continues its legacy of shaping the conglomerate’s social and business initiatives.

Trent has also garnered attention in the stock market, with its shares rising by over 10% in recent trading sessions, driven by the success of its lab-grown diamond venture, Pome.
