A girl in Pakistan’s Sindh province has been arrested after 13 members of her family, including her parents, died from poisoning. The incident occurred on August 19 in Haibat Khan Brohi village, near Khairpur, when the family consumed food laced with poison.
Authorities reported that the girl was upset after her family refused to allow her to marry her boyfriend. In a conspiracy with him, she mixed poison into the wheat used to prepare rotis for her family. Following the meal, all 13 family members fell ill and were taken to the hospital, where they subsequently died.
During a police investigation, it was revealed that the poison had been added to the food. A senior police officer, Inayat Shah, confirmed the girl’s confession to mixing the poison with the assistance of her boyfriend. She was arrested on Sunday as the investigation continued.
